Anesthesiologists

Ryan Coleman, M.D.

University of Arkansas Medical School

I was born and raised in Fort Smith , Arkansas. After completing residency in 1996, my wife and I chose to return to Fort Smith. We have two grown children who were both very active in their schools here with extracurricular activities such as sports and dance. We have always found Fort Smith a good place for families with its choice of good public and private schools. There are plenty of outdoor activities locally and within a short drive including multiple lakes and hiking opportunities.

My wife and I have been part of the community for almost 25 years. My wife , Jami also has a business in the developing downtown area.
I feel like we have the privilege to practice in a quality anesthesia practice that allows us to do a wide array of cases while living in a city that affords a comfortable lifestyle.

I also like the fact that there are many close day trip and weekend destinations in larger cities that are easy drives from Fort Smith as well as our own regional airport that connects conveniently to more distant destinations.

Melissa Hughes, M.D.

University of Arkansas Medical School

I’m originally from Taylor, a small town in southern Arkansas. After attending Southern Arkansas University, my family and I headed to central Arkansas for medical school and residency at University of Arkansas Medical School.

I’m married to a fishing fanatic and so my husband, Kevin, and I spend a lot of time on beautiful Lake Ouachita. Besides hanging out at the lake, I also enjoy coffee, reading, sewing, and machine embroidery.

Fort Smith is a beautiful community with a small town feel but with many of the amenities of a larger town.  We are close to NW Arkansas, Tulsa, and even Dallas and Kansas City which gives us the opportunity for a lot more options.  Not to mention all the lakes and areas for hiking and biking!  Kevin and I came to Fort Smith for my job in 2010 but now it’s home and we love it.  We have a great church and have made so many new friends that are now like family to us.
